With the recent advances in LED display resolutions, LCD technology displays with LED backlight, which so far have been dominating indoor signage applications, are now getting a run for its money. So what are the pros and cons of video walls when compared to LED screens? Our in-house project manager will explain.

First of all, we need to think if the viewers of the content will be located close to the panel. In such cases, then a video wall will be the best option. A larger display video wall is an option with a lower price, but the bezel will show. On the other hand, if the viewers are going to be further from the display and/or there is significant ambient light in the room to affect the content, than a LED display may offer advantages.

The colour gamut of an LED display varies from company to company. Top manufacturers have a very good quality control that helps assure colour uniformity across the display. However, LCD displays are easier to colour calibrate, which ensures that the content of your video wall has the exact colours that you or your advertisers want to see.

Each solution has a sweet spot depending on the installation. Key considerations when selecting the best technology for a given installation include: design flexibility, physical footprint, ease of installation, image quality (resolution), ambient light tolerance, reliability, ease of maintenance and finally, cost.
